Privacy Policy

Kanaiic Reader for Android (com.kanaiic.reader) · Last updated 7 October 2026

Kanaiic Reader does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party services of any kind.

No internet access

The app requests no Android permissions at all. In particular it does not hold the INTERNET permission, so it is incapable of sending data off the device or contacting any server. All of its content (the Bible translations, the Strong's lexicon and the dictionary data) is bundled inside the app and works with the phone offline.

What stays on your phone

  • Your access code, as an unrecoverable cryptographic derivation; the code itself is never stored.
  • Your highlights, notes, Saved list, reading position and settings.
  • Notes written in the dictionary's notes tab.

Your highlights, notes, Saved list, reading position and settings are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is derived from your code using Argon2id and is additionally wrapped by a key held in the phone's hardware-backed keystore, so the data can only be read with your code on that phone. None of it leaves the device. Recent dictionary lookups and notes written in the dictionary's notes tab are stored on the phone without encryption, like any ordinary dictionary app.

Files you open

The dictionary view can display a PDF you choose through Android's own file picker. The file is only read, it is never copied or uploaded, and the app keeps no record of which files were opened.

Backups

You can export a backup file protected by a passphrase you choose. The file is written where you tell Android to put it and is encrypted; what you then do with that file is up to you. The app's data is excluded from Android's own automatic cloud backup.

Deleting your data

Erasing the app's data from Settings inside the app, or uninstalling the app, removes everything, including the key material in the keystore. Because nothing is ever sent anywhere, there is nothing held elsewhere to delete, and no request to make of us.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
